Before: bare concrete with oil stains and surface pitting. After: full-chip epoxy system in silver/gray with gloss topcoat. Easton, PA.
The Challenge
This two-car garage in Easton had 20 years of oil stains, a few surface cracks, and the typical pitting that concrete develops over time. The homeowner was converting the garage to a workshop and wanted a professional floor that would be easy to clean and look great.
Our Process
Day 1: mechanical preparation. We diamond-ground the entire floor (no acid etching — mechanical prep is more reliable for long-term adhesion) to open the concrete pores and remove all contamination. Patched the cracks with epoxy filler. Day 2: base coat of 100% solids epoxy in charcoal gray, broadcast with a full flake system (silver, gray, black, and white chips to full rejection). Day 3: topcoat of polyaspartic for UV stability and maximum durability.
The Result
The finished floor is completely transformed — looks like a professional showroom. The polyaspartic topcoat is harder and more UV-stable than standard epoxy topcoats, meaning it won't yellow or peel with hot tire contact. Total for a 2-car garage (420 sq ft): $2,800 including grinding, patching, base coat, flake, and topcoat.
